The paper presents the results of current velocity measurements which were carried out below the thermocline in the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland in the second half of July 2010. It was found that the structure of water circulation in the region is generally cyclonic in nature. Comparison of calculated geostrophic velocities with instrumental measurements showed a qualitative agreement only for the direction of currents. The meas-ured modules of current velocity exceeded its values calculated by the dynamic method by two to eight times.
