On the basis of processing of the experimental data obtained over the summer seasons of 2008-2011, the properties of short-period internal waves in the White Sea areas differing in hydrological and morphometric conditions are considered. They are typical for the White Sea shelf zones. The investigations show that the fields of the internal waves within the zones strongly differ from each other. The zones of the frequently observed intensive internal waves are selected. It is shown that these waves are significantly non-linear and their height can reach half of the sea depth, the period being equal to 10-20 minutes.
