Simulation of physical and biogeochemical characteristics of the sea in the Central-Eastern Atlantic including the area of the Canary Upwelling was performed for the period of 1958-2006 using a three-dimensional eco-hydrodynamical model. The model solution has two features: zones of lowered values of surface chlorophyll «a» concentrations and integral primary production in the coastal zone and the presence of a subsurface maximum in vertical distribution of chlorophyll «a» concentration located beneath the layer available for remote sensing.
