The three-dimensional data assimilation module for temperature and salinity was installed in the operational system GULFOOS in preoperational mode. Three-dimensional variational assimilation scheme (3D-VAR) was adapted. Testing of the adapted system was performed on CTD data collected during the summer oceano-graphic survey in 2011 in the eastern Gulf of Finland. The quality of assimilated hydrophysical fields were tested on the independent data.
